You Don’t Have to
Face This Alone

When a Serious, Terminal, or Chronic Illness
Changes Everything

If you've been diagnosed with cancer, ALS, Alzheimer's, dementia, heart disease, or another serious illness, you know the weight of impossible decisions. The fear. The questions that keep you awake at 2 AM. The burden of choices you never imagined making.

You're trying to stay positive for your family while your heart holds more emotions than words can express—anger, hope, guilt, gratitude, worry, love. You want to protect them from the hardest parts of what's coming, but you don't know how to start the conversation.

You're not a burden. You matter. And you deserve support.

I'm here to help you move from overwhelmed to prepared, from anxious to relieved, from helpless to empowered. Together, we'll create an advanced care plan that honors your wishes, protects your family from agonizing decisions, and gives you back a sense of control.

Because the greatest gift you can give your family is clarity—
before they need it.

At 51, my ALS diagnosis turned my world upside down. I was afraid of becoming a burden to my family. I couldn’t stop thinking about them having to make impossible decisions about my care when I can no longer speak for myself.

After just one session with Shawn, I felt relief I hadn’t experienced since my diagnosis. She helped me articulate what matters most to me, guided me through conversations I’d been avoiding with my family, and helped me document my wishes. My family finally knows what I want. They won’t have to guess. They won’t have to carry that weight alone.
— Shane, 51, Living with ALS

What Happens When You Don't Plan

I wish this weren't true, but I've witnessed it too many times:

Without a plan, your family will face impossible decisions in the worst moments of their lives. They'll argue about what you would have wanted. They'll second-guess themselves for years. They'll carry guilt, wondering if they made the right choice when you couldn't speak for yourself.

They'll plan your memorial service while in shock and grief, making decisions they'll later regret. They'll struggle to communicate with extended family and friends. Anger will surface. Relationships will fracture.

And the tragedy is—all of this is preventable.

You have the power right now to spare them from this pain. But that window won't stay open forever. Your illness will progress. Your ability to communicate your wishes will diminish. The conversations that feel hard today will become impossible tomorrow.

The time to plan is now—while you still can.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Shawn K Supers—my friends call me Kya, which means "soul friend."

For over 25 years, I've walked alongside patients and families in the facing serious, terminal, or chronic illness. I've held space for their fears, celebrated their victories, and witnessed their deepest concerns. I've raised millions of dollars to fund programs that support them. I've developed initiatives that address their needs. And I've formed lifelong friendships with people who trusted me with their most vulnerable moments.

But I also witnessed something that broke my heart:

Patients who desperately wanted to protect their families but didn't know how to start the conversation. Caregivers who yearned to know their loved one's wishes but couldn't find a safe space to ask. Families torn apart by treatment decisions because no one knew what their loved one truly wanted.

I watched caregivers make excruciating decisions about life-saving measures—then suffer for years wondering if they'd made the right choice. I saw families plan funerals in the fog of grief and shock, making decisions they'd later regret. I witnessed anger, guilt, and disconnection tear families apart.

And the organizations I worked for didn't address it.

When I lost a patient, all I could offer their family was a fundraising page for tribute donations. It felt hollow. Wrong. Inadequate.

My heart wanted to do more.

So I trained as an Advanced Care Planning Facilitator, End of Life Educator, End of Life Doula, and Sacred Ceremony Celebrant. I dedicated myself to helping families avoid the pain I'd witnessed—the preventable suffering that comes from not planning.

Because here's what I know:

Advanced care planning isn't about death. It's about protecting the people you love most. It's about giving them the gift of clarity so they never have to carry the crushing weight of uncertainty. And it’s about living your days to the fullest with peace of mind

It is my privilege to guide you in planning and preparing for your passing with as much grace, dignity, and love as possible.

I'm sorry you've been dealt these circumstances. Facing a life-threatening illness is a heavy burden. But you've made a courageous choice in planning ahead for your needs and the needs of your family.

Together, we can design a plan that guides your family through this impossibly difficult experience—and keeps them connected and protected.
